Dressing for the Winter Months at Disney World
If you plan to visit Disney World in February, it’s important to dress for the winter months (well Florida winter months) as temperatures can be cooler during this time. Central Florida is generally warm, but temperatures can range from 50 (or lower)-75°F, and it can, and will, rain while you are there. So it’s important to be prepared for colder climates.
Layering is key during this time of year! A long sleeve shirt is a great base layer, and you can add a light jacket, sweatshirt, spirit jersey, or sweater that can easily be removed if you get too warm.
When choosing your clothing, it’s important to consider the activities you’ll be doing. If you plan on going on water rides or getting wet, bring a change of clothes and waterproof footwear to avoid discomfort. But you really should always be prepared to get wet, as rain happens year-round in Central Florida- a rain jacket or poncho should definitely be on your Disney packing list!
Dressing for Disney World Theme Parks
Each Disney World theme park has its own unique theme, so this makes packing and planning for your Disney trip extra fun. Dressing in layers is still a good idea.
One thing every Disney park has in common is the amount of walking you will do- it’s a lot! Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, keep reading to see our favorite ideas for February and the winter months at the theme parks.
While in the Disney Theme Parks use a weather app, and check it before you go to the theme parks that day so you can know what to expect. Always be sure to put in Lake Buena Vista as your location, not Orlando. I like Dark Sky or the Weather Channel for the most accurate forecasts.

Disney World Winter Accessories
Believe it or not you will likely want to throw a hat and gloves into your bag when visiting Disney World in the month of February. You may not need them but they are easy enough to pack and don’t take up much room. And there are cute options that highlight your favorite Disney characters.
When visiting Disney World in February, it’s also a good idea to bring a poncho or waterproof jacket, as afternoon showers are common during this time of year- just reminding you one more time!
“Dressing in layers and throwing some winter accessories and rain gear in your bag is key for your Disney vacation in February. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, as there is a lot of walking involved in each park.”
Layering Tips for Comfortable Outfits
February at Disney World can have both cooler temperatures and warmer weather so let’s talk again about those layers.
Pro Tip: Choose a lightweight fabric for long-sleeved shirts, or light jackets, such as cotton or a moisture-wicking material, to avoid feeling too hot or bulky while layering.
Layering Idea | Description |
---|---|
Long sleeve shirt + T-Shirt or tank tops | If you’re unsure whether to wear long sleeves or short sleeved shirts, opt for both. Wear a short-sleeved breathable shirt or tank top as your base layer then add a long-sleeved shirt. |
Light Jacket + Hoodie | For colder mornings and evenings, a light jacket layered over a hoodie is a perfect combination for warmth without feeling weighed down. |
Sweater + Scarf | If you’re looking for a dressier option, a sweater with a scarf can be both cute and practical |
By following these layering tips, you can stay warm and comfortable during your Disney World adventure. Long-sleeved shirts and light jackets or sweaters are perfect for the cooler February weather in Central Florida, particularly for early mornings. Pair those with long pants or leggings that are lightweight (see below for my favorite ideas- pockets are key).
Daytime temperatures may reach an average high in the mid-70s (F) so you may need to take off a layer particularly while waiting in the long lines in the mid-day sun.
These pants are great for traveling and great for the parks if you want a more casual look that won't be too hot when the sun comes out. They are light weight and have lots of pockets!
Choosing the Most Comfortable Shoes for your Disney Day
When planning what to wear to Disney World in February, it’s important to prioritize comfort, because there is so much walking! You will likely be walking between 12,000 and 30,000 steps per day. Choosing the right footwear is crucial to avoiding sore feet at the end of a long day.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Sneakers | Sneakers are a classic choice for a day at the park. Look for pairs with cushioned soles that provide support and comfort for your feet. |
Cross over shoes | Shoes like Crocs (yeah I said it), Native shoes, or Tevas can be a great cross over between a sandal and a sneaker while providing a comfortable footbed, and even Disney theming |
Sandals or Flip Flops | While sandals may not be the most obvious choice for a day at Disney World, they can be a comfortable option if you prefer more breathable footwear. Look for pairs with sturdy soles and straps that will keep your feet secure. Or (if it’s going to be warm enough) you can throw one pair of flip flops or a packable shoe like TOMS in your bag for a late day change of shoes, particularly after a rain storm |
Whichever footwear you choose, it’s important to break them in before your trip to avoid any discomfort or blisters. And don’t forget to bring along a spare pair of socks in case your feet get wet from any water rides or rain.
Overall, the key to choosing the right footwear for a day of adventure at Disney World in February is to prioritize comfort over style. Your feet will thank you!
Packing for Warmer Temperatures on your Disney Trip in February
Sometimes February temperatures in Central Florida can feel just like the summer months. You may even want to visit the water parks, or at least your hotel pool. So be sure to pack your bathing suit for those warm weather days. The winter months can be a great time to visit the water parks at the Disney parks as the crowd sizes are much smaller. The Disney Resorts have some amazing pools too! All moderate and deluxe Disney resort hotels have a hot tub so even on cold weather days you may want to throw on your bathing suit and rest your weary body!
Keep in mind that refurbishments are big in February also. Often one of the two water parks is closed so check out the schedule on My Disney Experience ahead of time (however at the time of this writing Typhoon Lagoon remains temporarily closed).
Crowd Sizes at Disney World in February
The first half of the month at Disney World has light to moderate crowds. The best time at the beginning of the month for lower crowds is the first week of February, with crowds rising as it gets closer to Presidents Day.
Towards the end of the month is not always a good time as far as crowds go. Cheer competitions tend to happen in the second half of the month, and the runDisney Princess half marathon weekend usually falls around this time. Also to enjoy lower crowds, be sure to complete your trip before Spring Break. This usually starts in the U.S. in early March and can go until the end of March.
Dressing for Special Events and Celebrations at Disney World in February
February is another month filled with magic at Disney World, with special events and celebrations that offer unique opportunities to dress up and have fun. Whether you’re planning a romantic Valentine’s Day outing or looking forward to the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, we’ve got you covered with outfit ideas and tips to help you look and feel your best.
Valentine’s Day
For a romantic Valentine’s Day outing at Disney World, consider a dressy outfit that’s still comfortable enough for a day of walking around the parks. Try a flowy maxi dress with a denim jacket and comfortable sandals. Or, for a more casual look, pair your favorite jeans with a cute blouse, a light sweater, and dressy-type sneakers. You can accessorize with your favorite Disney themed Valentine’s Day jewelry.

Epcot International Festival of the Arts
The Epcot International Festival of the Arts is a celebration of food, art, and entertainment, so why not dress up in a fun and creative outfit? Consider wearing a colorful dress or jumpsuit with a statement necklace and bold earrings. If you prefer a more casual look, try pairing high-waisted lightweight pants with a graphic t-shirt and comfortable sneakers. Don’t forget to bring a crossbody bag or fun park bag to keep your hands free for sampling all the delicious food!

Celebration Outfits
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday, an anniversary, or a family reunion, Disney World is the perfect place to dress up and have fun. Consider coordinating with your group by wearing matching t-shirts or even Disneybounding to celebrate your favorite characters. Disneybounding uses everyday pieces like dresses, shirts, hats, and pants, in different colors and patterns to resemble Disney characters that you love. It’s basically cosplay without the costumes. It’s a fun way to celebrate any Disney trip, any time of year.
These are so cute and can be customized. And they are a small business too!
