Magic Key Sales Resume in 2024
The long-awaited Disneyland Magic Key Pass sales will resume on January 10th, 2024, no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific Time. The Magic Key is Disneyland’s annual pass program, allowing a certain amount of theme park reservations to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure throughout the year. All key pass holders will have some blockout dates, with the Imagine Key holders having the least amount and Inspire Key annual pass holders having the most amount. The Dream Key, formerly the only Magic Key without a blockout day at all, is no longer available for sale.
Disneyland previously had the sale of new purchases of Magic Keys on hold, and annual pass renewals had been on hold as well. This announcement of new sales of Magic Keys was surprising to many, and you can bet the online wait to get one will be quite extensive. Keep in mind that in 2023 it only took five days for the lowest-priced four key levels to sell out in April, leaving only the Inspire key available for purchase for the summer months until that sold out in September of 2023.
How to Make Your Magic Key Pass Purchase
- Visit the official Disneyland website and navigate to the Magic Key Pass section.

If you make it through the long wait time in the queue and there are still passes available…then you’re now the proud owner of a New Magic Key Pass, ready to embark on a year of Disneyland magic!
4 Magic Key Tiers: Prices, Perks, and Break-Even Point
Disneyland offers four tiers of Magic Keys, each with its own price level and perks. Let’s take a closer look at each tier, and the break-even point for each.
1) Imagine Magic Key:
$499 and only available to Southern California Residents living in zip codes 90000 to 93599. This is the lowest-priced option, perfect for those who have flexible schedules and who don’t mind a heavier blockout calendar. With the Imagine Key, you can experience the magic of Disneyland at a more affordable price. Perks: 10% off select merchandise and dining, 25% off parking at the Toy Story parking lot, 20% off your Disney Genie purchase. You can only hold 2 theme park reservations at a time. Break-even point: Considering a single day ticket to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure can cost between $104-$194, the break-even point can vary. On average you break even at 3-5 days.
2) Enchant Magic Key:
$849. The Enchant Key unlocks more perks and benefits, including the ability to visit the park on more days. This level of Magic Keys allows you to hold up to 4 theme park reservations at a time, and every benefit of the others listed above. Break-even point: 5-8 days, depending on what days you plan to go.
3) Believe Magic Key:
$1249. Moving up in tiers, the Believe Key offers even more magical days. With additional reservation availability (you can hold up to 6 theme park reservations at a time), this tier is perfect for those who want more flexibility and perks. In addition to the above perks Believe Disneyland Magic Key Holders will get 50% off theme park parking, and free unlimited Disney Photo Pass downloads. Break-even point: Factoring in the additional perks, your break-even point is likely 9-12 days.
4) Inspire Magic Key:
$1649. At the top tier, the Inspire Key provides the best Magic Key option, but is also the most expensive. The Inspire Key offers more perks and benefits, including the least amount of blackout dates, even more reservation availability (up to 6 theme park reservations can be held), and bigger merchandise discounts (up to 20% vs 10% in the others). You also get free parking, this is the only Magic Key that has this perk. Break-even point: Given you have more perks and can attend more highest priced tier days at this highest tier, the break-even point is approximately 12-15 days.
At the time of this writing, the Dream Key is no longer available for purchase or renewal.
Understanding the different tiers and their corresponding prices is crucial in choosing the right Magic Key Pass that aligns with your needs and budget. But it doesn’t stop there! To determine the value you’ll get from your Magic Key Pass, you’ll have to individualize your break-even point. Consider the number of visits you plan to make throughout the year, what the single day ticket price or multi-day if you plan to batch your visit or are traveling from out of town, and compare it to the cost of the pass. This will help you make an informed decision and ensure that the Magic Key Pass is worth the investment.
What type of Magic Key should you get?
Choosing the right type of Magic Key Pass is important to ensure you make the most of your time at Disneyland. Consider factors such as budget, desired perks and benefits, and blockout dates. The blockout dates vary depending on the type of Magic Key Pass.
Higher-tier passes, such as the Believe Key and Inspire Key, offer fewer blackout dates and more flexibility in visiting the park.
2024 Blockout Dates for Magic Keys
It’s important to be aware of the blockout dates so you can plan your visits accordingly. Higher-tier Magic Key Passes typically have fewer blackout dates compared to lower-tier passes. By choosing a pass with fewer blockout dates, you can have more flexibility to visit the park throughout the year.
Blockout dates usually coincide with busy seasons, holidays, and special events at Disneyland.
