Running a RunDisney is so much more than a race- a great RunDisney Costume is part of the magic!
Whether you want to go all out for your RunDisney Costumes and be your favorite Princess from head to toe, or you want to rock a cosplay running T- I’ve got you covered in this blog. You will find Run Disney Outfit inspiration that takes planning, or that you can throw together a few days before the race. Just like planning a Disney vacation, planning a Run Disney event can be planned and fine-tuned over several months or spontaneous- and anything in between!
This blog is all about 5 RunDisney Costumes Ideas that you will love!
After I ran my first RunDisney race I was hooked- but I didn’t plan any fancy RunDisney outfit because I was worried any kind of costume would bug me during the half marathon. Wow, did I regret it- there were so many creative and sometimes hilariously fun RunDisney costumes!
Let’s dive into 5 Inspirational RunDisney costumes ideas:
1. Sport a fun tutu and make it unique!
There are some amazing companies making fun running tutus for all occasions- not just RunDisney! Here are some ways to make these tutus into RunDisney Costumes:
- Buy a rainbow tutu and pair it with a royal blue tank top. Add some feathers to your hair or a feather headband, and- voila- you are Kevin from Up! Check out this blog for more inspiration.
- Sport a purple tutu and a pink running tank, braid your hair (if you have some long locks), and coil it up with flowers, and you are Rapunzel! I love this blog for this look (it uses a sparkle skirt instead, which is a very comfy option). Add her best friend, Pascal, on your shoulder and you have a complete look.
- Get a white runners/ sport dress, or skirt and shirt, and add big brown pompoms, an Olaf hat, and a carrot nose. Guess who you are? (Hint: He loves summer…and all things hot…). This blog shows how to build a snowman!
2. Buy an already put-together RunDisney costume
Sometimes, you just want something all put together for you- no fuss and no stress. And you want it to be totally ready to run in- no worries about scratchy skirts or tutus, or uncomfortable fabrics. Guess what? There’s a site for that!
I have three favorite sites to check out:
- and, of course, there’s always a huge selection of Etsy options- too many to mention here but they are awesome! Here’s a shop to start with, LoverDoversClothing
I love this option because many of them are made for runners (but be sure to check that the fit is good for you and that the materials are to your comfort level), and no DIY is needed! DIY is great for those who are crafty or really enjoy making things, but it is definitely not for everyone!
3. Check out second-hand RunDisney costumes
You can sometimes find this on Mercari, Poshmark, or even Craigslist. This may sound strange to some but it’s a great way to save money and not have to think about planning the perfect RunDisney race day outfit!
Some of these costumes are very elaborate and intricately made, and sometimes made for competitive-level runners. It’s hit or miss whether there is something available in your size or that it will actually be cheaper.
But it could be a great and easy way to have a really fancy RunDisney outfit and to upcycle also!
4. Rock a Cosplay type themed Running T-shirt
If you want to go simple and be comfortable and just rock a Running Tank Top then Etsy has so many options!!! The one above is from WeRunforFun, but another great shop for tanks is DreamitbyYLW.
For cute, comfy-themed running skirts I love MagicalBounding, and the skirt (well it’s really a culotte) even has a pocket for your phone!
Sparkle Athletic Skirts are a favorite among RunDisney enthusiasts and for good reason- sparkly, comfy, and so many wonderful color options! It’s difficult to choose just one!
And one last option- Skater dresses. I have two different Running Skater Dresses- Merida and Mrs. Incredible and I loved both of them, and there are so many other character options. Check out this shop for Skater dresses, LittleLadyShayBtq. This is where I bought my Merida dress and it was super comfortable (it runs a little big so keep the sizing in mind).
This is a great option for your first race or if you are sensitive to any kind of itchy fabrics or constrictions. They have so many cute options in sweat-friendly, runner-approved fabrics. And keep in mind that you can buy running tank tops, skirts, and skater dresses on Pretty Pumpkin and Gone for a Run (the sites and links are above), and of course, Amazon has many options to.
5. Sport your support of your favorite Disney attraction
Now, these can get really fun and really creative!
Do you love Spaceship Earth? Tower of Terror? E-ticket attractions?
RunDisney costumes can be anything- including a DIY outfit based on your favorite attraction. Check out these ideas:
- Retro Disneyland E Ticket DIY costume
- Carousel of Progress-themed costume
- If you don’t want to DIY but STILL want to honor your favorite attraction check out these options- Spaceship Earth Skater Dress, Indiana Jones Boulder scene, or these Haunted Mansion Leggings!
Whatever RunDisney Costumes you or your group choose- rest assured, the race will be magical! But in order to eliminate any non-magical wardrobe mishaps be sure to do a practice run in your RunDisney outfit. Yeah, you may look strange running through your neighborhood dressed as Donald Duck, but it’s worth it to make sure that you don’t have a bad race day!
